Prompt Response is a great big writing party—and like the best parties, you’ll always leave with a story. Thanks to everyone who joined us live! If you didn’t make it, watch the recording above and/or read on for what we have so far, and how you can participate before the next live event at 8 PM ET on Monday, April 27th.
Help us grow Prompt Response by subscribing and restacking! We absolutely enjoy engaging with you all, either live on the air or through our subscriber chat. Let’s do more of it!
This Week’s Prompt Responses:
This week, we explored the relationship between character motivation and the manifestation of said motivation—how character change can drive story.
We then listed several old-timey occupations: blacksmith, town crier, apothecary milkmaid. Our task was to pick one of these and write a quick story about a character from one of these professions, but use the motivation/manifestation lesson to inform the character’s actions. Would their motivations remain the same but their manifestation (actions) change? Or vice versa?
You can find quick vignettes along these lines from Hallie Jules, Wendy Russell, Kyra Leigh, and both your hosts in the thread linked here.
Prompts for Next Time (respond plz!):
We invite you to hop into the Episode 11 thread and participate in the prompts listed below. It’s never too late to add your wit and voice to the collection. Get messy! Polish is not required! Submit something before Monday, April 20th, and maybe we will do something fun with it…
